5 Dog Walking and Travelling Accessories You Need

1.  Collar

A collar on your dog is great for walking them, holding onto them in a bad situation and holding your dog's tags.  I also have a little blue light on Hugo's collar so I can see in at night times.  I prefer to keep a collar on my dogs at all times but I don't like to walk them with just a collar because I feel as though it's very harsh on the dog's neck.

2.  Harness

Now, this is something I will walk Hugo with.  Hugo has a harness that we only put on him when he leaves our house.  I also would like to buy another tag to put on his harness but I haven't gotten round to that yet.  We use the harness for securing him in the car and for walking him.

3.  Lead

Having a short lead is the best choice if you are only going to get one.  I use this short lead in towns, near traffic and to the vets.  Basically anywhere that you need to keep your dog by your side then you need a shorter lead.

4.  Retractable Lead

I have to use this 'giant' retractable lead for Hugo but most ones will be much cheaper than this for smaller dogs.  I love using this lead when we are at the park or on the beach.  Hugo is very well behaved but I would recommend trying this out in a secure location before you go to public places.

5.  Car Seat Belt Attachment

I feel like not enough people buckle their dogs into the car.  I always recommend doing this to keep your dog safe in the car.  I use this attachment by threading the car seat belt through it and clipping it onto Hugo.
